About Us

Holy Rosary School is a member of the Duluth Area Catholic Schools system. Located in the eastern end of Duluth, the school enjoys a beautiful campus that includes large play areas, a sliding hill, soccer field, basketball court, and a magnificent view of Lake Superior.  There are 16 classrooms, a large library (renovated in 1996), gym, and two computer labs outfitted with networked multimedia flat screen PCs.

For eighty-three years, the school was guided by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield.  In 2006, the school hired its first lay principal.  HRS maintains the Catholic tradition of academic excellence and faith formation. Over 2,700 students have graduated and many graduates achieve great success in life. Most of our graduates finish in the top percent of their high school class and take college level credit while enrolled in high school. Many of our graduates attend public high schools in the Duluth's Independent School District (#709).

Small class sizes and a kindergarten through grade eight configuration allow unique opportunities for leadership and peer mentoring. Students in the Middle School with the primary classes and provide programs such as anti-bullying and Mass Mentors.

The parish staff is involved in the life of the school. Weekly Mass, class visits, community events and special occasions keep the parish and school linked. Students are active in the music ministry, cantoring, and singing in the Children's and Festival Choirs, and altar serving as well as lecturing.

Holy Rosary School offers families a partner in education who mirrors Christian values and challenging students to their highest potential.
